I recently inherited this huge jewellery box from my Mom, so now all of my jewellery is neatly tucked away. But before then I had no idea what to with it, so I had necklaces hanging from thumb tacks I stuck in the wall and I would lose them like crazy because I would leave them all over the house and in random bags. If only I had seen some of these cool ideas for necklace storage... they can really spice up the look of a bedroom. What do you think? The last one is my favourite.

I find it so interesting to see how others live, how their furniture is set up, what kind of decorations they have, what products they use, food they eat, etc....

Basically I'm saying I'm a voyeur, but really, who isn't.

The Selby makes checking out interesting people's spaces super easy - they have so many cool photos of living spaces on here I could spend hours.

A beautiful space is Julia Restoin Roitfeld's NYC pad. She is an art director and the daughter of French Vogue editor. She rolls P-I-M-P tight. Here are a some tidbits. You have to go to the site to see the rest.

The future?

While relaxing at home on a beautiful Friday I tripped over some cool art by I guy I just heard of called Josh Keyes.

"A central topic in Keyes' work is his speculative imaginings about a dystopian future, where the United States operates on the world stage as a political and environmental tyrant." (quote from his website)

I feel a little confused... and a little icky

So as many may know Chris Cornell has recently come out with a rock/dance/hip hop album produced by none other than Timbaland. I just watched the videos for the top two songs "Scream" and "Part of me", both are obvious works of Timbaland - you can hear him through and through. If it weren't for Chris Cornell's recognizable voice singing over the beats you'd have no idea it was his work at all.

So is it any good?

That is really hard for me to answer. I have been in love with Chris Cornell since I saw the Jesus Christ Pose video over a decade ago - that Chris Cornell was the hard rocker with one of the best voices of his era that I was comfortable with. I'm finding this "new" thing he's going for really hard to swallow.

Anyway, everyone will have different opinions I suppose.

This was up for the Turner Prize in 2007, it didn't win, but is my favorite of the 4 finalists. To see all finalists from that year click here. I believe "Sleeper" ended up being the winner. I love the simplicity and haunting quality about this....

I was in Aldo last night and got psyched over some of the new cute spring sandals on display - and they're flats!!! Being 6 feet tall means I always have a heel/giantess issue.

I'm more in love with the beige boot ones (so different), but the black gladiators are pretty rockin too! Note to self: Next paycheck go to Aldo.

Before I die I need to go...

So I made it to the Taj Mahal, but there are still so many interesting and beautiful places in the world I need to see before I die.

I'm not sure if the following are my top three - but they are the three on my mind right now.

1. The Catacombs of Paris...

Last night after a few glasses of wine I learned that two of my girlfriends had already been here - seems so creepy/awesome/interesting.

2. Easter Island...

This one has been on my list for a long time. I've always been intrigued by these giant mysterious heads called "moai" and also how isolated the island is. This would be an amazing trip paired up with a visit to Chili.

3. The Pyramids of Giza...

What more is there to say? Who isn't dying to see the pyramids? If I make it to Africa and Egypt I'll be here for sure. I'd also love to do a safari and shop in the Cairo markets.

So I just back from India - that's why I've been neglecting this blog. Two of my favorite moments was choosing the fabric to have 2 beautiful dresses made for the wedding we attended and running into a snake charmer and monkeys that do tricks on the side of the road...

These guys ran the fabric shop where I made my purchase - there was so many beautiful colours and patterns to choose from it was hard!

I got this one for the party on the night before the wedding, and the one below was for the wedding itself.

We went to the Taj Mahal too - I had to put this picture in. Being there was like being in a post card...

This classic Clash song has been in my head a lot lately. I've heard it covered several times, but I like the covers by Nouvelle Vague and Arcade Fire the best. I'd like to say the original is my favorite - but I reeealy like the Nouvelle Vague version.

The Clash video is pretty bad ass. In my opinion its hard to look cooler than someone authentically rockin' a fitted black leather jacket, tight black jeans (defiantly slashed at both knees) and a fedora.

The Tiki Lounge is undeniably an epicentre of the Halifax music scene. Stompin Tom Connors' pedal board hung on the wall and yet-to-be-released albums played loudly over head. With such a warm, interesting and inviting atmosphere - you'd have no idea we were in a shed in the North End at 20 degrees below zero outside.

I'd heard about this place but never been prior to this night - great local discovery.

The (not so recent) return of the hammer pant

Apparently I've been living under a rock or something. I was shocked to see that hammer... cough*, I mean harem pants were coming back in style. After a little internet research I discovered that YSL put them in the runway in their Spring 2007 show.

In elementary school I used to go nuts for these pants (and even remember safety pinning the bottom of my cotton jogging pants to get the then coveted look), after the style went out I NEVER thought it would come back. But I must say I actually like the modern adaptation.

In my opioion these girls look tres chic.

Love the hair, the pose, the look in her eyes, the wall paper in the background, the detailed desk, and especially the beautiful print dress. My bf told me my New Year's dress looked like a Mussoni print; ofcourse that made me like it even more. Can't wait to search for new fun new jewellery and textiles in India.

Vampires Are Hot

Yesterday I spent the day in bed watching HBO's True Blood. I was dying to check out this show - a lazy New Year's day was the perfect opportunity. I watched five episodes in a row and now I'm hooked!. I loooooved it!

Vampires, vampires, vampires - they're everywhere these days!

True Blood is one of the hottest shows on TV and the Twilight series is flying of the shelves. It all adds up to this: Pop cultures girls are hot for Vampires.

Dior's current Fall/Winter show was all over Vampires too...

My favourite band at the moment is MGMT. Their Nov 08 photo shoot in Spin Magazine also had vampire-ish elements. Clothes are a mix of: Dior, Guess, Prada, Thom Browne and Paul Smith.

New Year = New Blog

Happy New Year!

I am excited to start off my new year with a new blog. I've recently discovered some fantastic blogs, inspiring me to start one of my own. I plan to write about my interests and any fun discoveries that pop up in life. I must say I am excited!

I love reading magazines and enjoy it when I can support home-grown media by purchasing Canadian magazines. Sadly 2008 saw the end of one of these magazines - the print edition of wish magazine. Although wish can still be read online, it makes me sad to loose the print version. I loved it how wish combined three things I love into one magazine: fashion, cooking and home decor. Ckeck it out online.

Despite this, another cool and fairly new (I think they have been publishing for a year) Canadian magazine is Naked Eye. I picked it up for the first time last month and enjoyed it cover to cover. Its smart and funny with lots of articles on style, music and pop culture. I discovered two fun fashion blogs while reading Naked Eye: Style Bubble and The Glossy.
